Members of ANAS Young Scientists and Specialists Council commemorated genocide victims in Guba

Members of ANAS Young Scientists and Specialists Council attended the commemorative event devoted to March 31 –genocide of Azerbaijanis in Guba. 

In advance, scientists pilgrimaged Guba genocide Memorial Complex and mass burial. 

Visitors were informed that, Guba genocide burial has been found on April 1, 2007 as a result of ground works. By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers “Action Plan on commemorating of mass massacre victims in Guba region” has endorsed in 2009, and decided to erect monumental in the territory of burial and to carry out refurbishment works. Extended research works commenced by employees of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography in the mass burial from 2007 and completed in 2008. As a result of researches was identified that, it is associated with genocide against Azerbaijanis by Armenians in 1918. More than 400 bodies of different age groups were found in the burial. 

Later on, Council members visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex. By the order of the President of AR Ilham Aliyev dated December 30, 2009, started being created the complex. Complex created by support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and opened on September 18, 2013 demonstrates photos of different landscapes of Guba city and welfare of people in the early of XX century. Map displaying on touch screen monitor mounted in the complex provides information in several languages about genocide acts committed by Armenians against our nation in last century. 

Members of the council have written their impressions on guest book. 

Then, young scientists pilgrimaged national leader Heydar Aliyev’s monument erected in the uptown, and put flowers on. 

Council members visited Heydar Aliyev Center as well. They got acquainted with photos reflecting life, activity and rich legacy, childhood and youth period of national leader, as well as working years at State Privacy Committee, both leadership periods of Azerbaijan. 

Further, they attended the commemorative event devoted to March 31 – genocide of Azerbaijanis. Opening the meeting chairman of Young Scientists and Specialists Council, PhD in physics-math Famin Salmanov spoke about tasks set before young scientists due to delivering truths about this bloody crime to the global world: “Events committed in Guba, including in other provinces arises Armenian’s hatred against the our people”, he noted. 

Then chief of Guba Youth Center Rakhshanda Bayramova commendably praised the organizing of commemorative event in Guba at initative of Council members. Researching historical facts of genocide and discussing their results via young scientists will contribute for formation of national-moral cognition in young offspring, she stressed out. 

Researcher of the Institute of History Raisa Jafarova, deputy director of  Guba branch of Azerbaijan Teachers’ Institute Aysel Sheydayeva, researcher of the Institute of LiteratureSabina Karimova, teacher of Guba city secondary school N 7 Anar Murtuzov and others held exchange of views.
