Council of Young Scientists and Specialists commemorated victims of Guba genocide

Within the commemorative event on the occasion of 31 March – Genocide Day of Azerbaijanis, members of ANAS Council of Young Scientists and Specialists have visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex and mass burial in the territory.

Pilgrims were informed on the Guba Genocide Burial and stated that, burial has been found during fossils on April 1, 2007. Then, employees of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS carried out extensive research work here. Studies proved that, burial associates with 1918 genocide against the local civilian population by Armenians. More than 400 grave remains of people of the different age groups were found.

Afterwards, pilgrims visited Guba Genocide Memorial Complex. It was informed that, complex has been established supported by Heydar Aliyev Foundation and opened on September 18, 2013.

Event attendees visited national leader Heydar Aliyev’s monument, erected in the downtown of Guba, memorized him.

Later on, a scientific-practical conference devoted to memory of genocide victims launched at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Guba.

Chairman of Council of Young Scientists and Specialists PhD in physics Famin Salmanov said that, genocide committed against our people in the XX century was the most terrible tragedy due its scale and geography, and Guba Genocide Burial is an obvious manifestation of tribulation perpetrated against our compatriots.

Other orators also highlighted that, tragedies in Guba including in other provinces show historical hatred of Armenians against our nation.

Young scientists made speeches at the event, held extended discussions.
